Our new Addition!! "Amos"

Meet "Amos" our newest edition. He is out of "Keely" (DC Ableaim Keepsake of Freeflite FCh SC) and "Conner" (Ableaim Olympic Reign JC).
He is a wild yet very affectionate boy and has a sassy attitude to go with his beautiful face! We are proud to add this wonderful and beautiful boy to our family - Thank you Donna Bost for allowing him to come home with me. I fell in love with him a first sight and can't believe he is finally here!!

Quick stop on trip to Texas

On our way to Texas for the AKC Lure Coursing National - we took a quick stop in Mississippi just before crossing the Mississippi River. Me with Morgan and Spirit!

We made it to Georgetown, TX later that night. National event is this weekend!

New "Name" collars

Spirit and Morgan are sporting their new collars that they won in the Whippetworld photo contest. They were made and donated by Pat Graves of www.bowwowwares.com.

Updates!

We survived our second trip in the motor home. The dogs have become quite comfortable and are calling it "home" now! Another great weekend. Updates

Well, our first trip in the motorhome was successful! To top it off, we had wonderful weather and a chance to visit with good friends. The dogs also had a wonderful time. Spirit, Morgan and Tyler all competed. Cali was able to get in a few practice runs!

The "New" RV is here!

We made it home from South Carolina with our new motorhome. It is a 1999 Gulf Stream Ultra 31 feet long.
I can't wait for our first trip in it!!!

News and Updates

Things continue to be exciting here at Cali Whippets.

We had a wonderful time with family over Memorial Day weekend, spending time at home with them and seeing some of the wonderful sites around the Raleigh area.
Following that weekend, we found out that our little red girl "Spirit", as of May 22nd, is still on top as :

the #1 Whippet and #1 Sighthound in AKC Lure Coursing for 2009
and is currently the #20 Whippet in ASFA Lure Coursing!

With a mild toe injury, we took a few weeks off to rest, but plan to head to Kentucky in a few weeks for a 3 day AKC trial there. As Morgan has FINALLY come out of heat!! she will be joining Spirit on the trip. Wish Morgan and Spirit good luck!

Also at our last AKC trial in Rocky Mount NC, Mike took some great shots of ALL the dogs lure coursing! His photos can be seen at: http://mgmcnamer.smugmug.com/

Exciting News!

Well, It has been an exciting few weeks. Make sure to check out both Morgan's and Spirit's own pages for full details. A few highlights:

4-4-09: At the American Whippet Club Nationals in Atlanta, GA - AKC Lure Coursing Trial - Spirit beat 110 dogs and went Best of Breed! This keeps Spirit as the #1 AKC Lure Coursing Whippet in the USA (photo by Mike - taken at Nationals)
4-18-09: At the Columbia Kennel Club in Aiken, SC - Morgan goes Winners for a point towards her Championship title (Photo from Nationals - taken by Mike)
Same day, Spirit goes first at an ASFA Lure Coursing trial in Reidsville, NC

4-19-09: In Reidsville, NC - Spirit goes first again and earns her ASFA Field Championship title and is can now be called a CHAMPION!

Great work girls! Thanks to Mike for all his help in making these wins possible!!

This past weekend was great weather and a lot of fun spending some time with good friends. Tyler's "girls" did great, with one of them earning Winners 4 out of 5 days. Upcoming events: We will be heading to Atlanta for the American Whippet Club's "National competition" in a few weeks. Wish the girls good luck as they are entered in both Lure Coursing and the show ring. I know we will have lots of fun and I am very excited!

New updates and News

I have made a few changes in the past month, adding some pedigrees and photos to some the pages. Please check them out.
The biggest new lately is that Morgan has come into heat for the first time and it has been a real learning experience for me keeping her and Tyler apart. What fun knowing that Spirit will not be far behind her and we will get to do it all over again.
We are planning for a big trip to the Whippet Nationals this coming April held in Atlanta. Besides that we have a few Lure Coursing trials coming up in the next few weeks and a local dog show in Raleigh in March.We will update everyone with results once we have them.

Snow in North Carolina!!!

What a day for the dogs! Snow! We got at least 7-8 inches starting last night into today.
